Kate Ryan Award
We want this award to go to the country that you think should have made it to the final each year but did not qualify. A lot of us here feel that Belgium’s Kate Ryan should have qualified to the final in the 2006 competition (we suspect that Schlager Diva Carola may have sabotaged Kate’s act in an act of vengeance for using the blessed Stormvind machine) and as such we want to acknowledge the good work of the one country that you lot out there think should have made it to the grand finale.
The voting for the second year of the Kate Ryan Award is now closed.
The Winner of the 2011 Kate Ryan Award is:
Poland’s Magdalena Tul
Runner up:
Norway’s Stella Mwangi
The Winner of the 2010 Kate Ryan Award is:
Sweden’s Anna Bergendahl

Runner Up:
The Netherlands’s Sieneke

I really thought SIENEKE had to make it to the final, the song is fantastic and proof of it is the 15 to 20 covers of the song.
It has to be the girls from Feminem! Robbed BLIND they were!
Sieneke for Sure
Thea Garrett from Malta should have made it for sure. She has a fantastic voice and charisma. A fantastic song and a very nice performance. Something new.
Even though Poland's song is better vocally and artistically, I prefer Sieneke's relaxing, happy song!
I think Sweden deserved to go through although I felt the song was more "American idol" then Eurovision my heart also said Sieneke but it was too off the wall for the general public…..One of my favourites of 2010 though and along with ireland and denmark was my most played song !!!
alos thought Finland deserved a final place before Russia and never got the croatian song so was glad it didnt make the cut !!
Really tough call for me – i ADORED Finland, Slovakia and Sweden (not to mention Latvia). But i went with the Netherlands. Pure class
Had to be Netherlands for me, although there were a few others which would deserve the title like Finland and Slovakia. Not Sweden though, thought the song was unimaginative.
Pity about Netherlands, it was much more a fun song!
Croatia, Netherlands, Sweden there were so many that SHOULD have gone through and nearly as many who shouldn’t have!! Russia for one!!
Brilliant idea for an award – though I was glad that Sweden didn’t get through in 2010. My candidates for your award would have been Poland and Lithuania, and i actually pity Switzerland – not sure if it deserved the finals, but they didn’t deserve last place…
May I suggest Bulgaria for the 2008 award? It’s still my favorite Eurovision Song of the 00-decade…
2007 – Cyprus
2008 – Macedonia or Andorra
2009 – Montenegro
2010 – Croatia or Slovakia
